- Cadet leader
We are looking for volunteer cadet leaders to join our cadet units at the following fire stations:
Warrington
Runcorn
Northwich
Nantwich
Winsford
Middlewich
Alsager
Sandbach
Crewe
Congleton
No firefighting experience is needed.
A typical cadet unit hosts up to 20 young people aged between 12 - 17 years of age, from varied and diverse backgrounds, who are supervised by 4 volunteer cadet staff.
As cadet staff you will support the scheme in providing the cadets with an insight into working within a uniformed service as well as encouraging them to develop personally, socially and with self- discipline.
In a team environment, cadet staff promote physical, mental and emotional wellbeing by organising structured activities which develop cadets to take informed decisions regarding their future career and life opportunities.
The commitment to attend the weekly drill night at a designated station and on a regular basis is vital to this role. We do have roles within the cadet scheme that do not require involvement with drill yard activities; if you feel you are able to offer skills such as administration, events and activity support please do get in touch.
The duration of the drill night is normally three hours and will take place on the same evening each week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday dependent on fire station).
Volunteer cadet staff require a DBS check.
Your commitment would be an evening per week, 6pm - 9pm, with the possibility of weekend and holiday events.
If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer Cadet Leader then please email: volunteerrecruitment@cheshirefire.gov.uk
