On Friday 28 March at around 7.15am a fire engine from Crewe was involved in a serious road traffic collision with a car on Crewe Road, Alsager, while on the way to an emergency call.

Cheshire Police have confirmed that very sadly the driver of the car, a 59-year-old woman, died as a result of her injuries.

Alex Waller, Chief Fire Officer and Chief Executive, said: "We are all shocked and deeply saddened by this incident and thoughts of everyone at Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service are with her loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.

"We are co-operating fully with Cheshire Police as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, and it would not be appropriate to comment further at this time."

Further details about our initial response to the collision can be found on the incident page of our website: Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service - Incidents

As a mark of respect, all public events due to take place at Cheshire's fire stations this weekend have been postponed.
