- Firefighters celebrated...
On Wednesday, 18 March, we celebrated the achievements of 28 firefighters at a special passout ceremony held at our Service’s headquarters and training centre. The event recognised 15 new on-call firefighters who have joined the Service over the past two years, as well as 13 previously on-call firefighters who have successfully transitioned to the wholetime duty system.
Attended by members of Cheshire Fire Authority, senior officers, family and friends; the ceremony marked an important milestone in their careers, highlighting their dedication to public service and emergency response.
On-call firefighters play a crucial role in keeping communities safe, responding to emergencies while balancing other careers and personal commitments. Those transitioning to the wholetime duty system are bringing valuable experience from their on-call roles.
In his opening speech, Chief Fire Officer and Chief Executive Alex Waller praised the firefighters for their commitment to protecting the communities of Cheshire, saying:
“This is a justifiably proud moment for you all… I hope that you all go on to achieve great things in your roles – as our vital link to your community you have certainly made the very best of starts.”
The ceremony was also an opportunity to recognise the families and friends who have supported the recruits throughout their training. As these firefighters step into their roles, they do so as key figures in their communities, ready to serve with professionalism and dedication. The event not only celebrated their hard work but also highlighted the important role firefighters play in building relationships with local people and protecting the most vulnerable in society from a range of risks.
