Following a fatal fire on a domestic narrow boat in Lymm, firefighters are advising boat owners to fit smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service is urging boat owners to fit both smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and to test them regularly. Warrington Service Delivery Manager David Rutter explained: "Further to the tragic incident on the canal at Lymm on 8 March, I cannot stress strongly enough that detectors for both smoke and carbon monoxide should be fitted. "We have comprehensive advice for boat owners and would urge everyone to read it and act upon it for their own safety and that of their loved ones." The cause of the fire is still under investigation and anyone with any information is urged to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number IML 1773016. |
