I write to request information from you regarding the statistics surrounding the number of fires in the construction industry and the number of fires, injuries and fatalities caused by hot works in the areas this fire service is responsible for.

• The number of fires in the construction industry (buildings under construction) in 2022/23.

             - One

• The number of fires caused by hot works in the construction industry in 2022/23.

            - One

• The main causes of hot works incidents in the construction industry.

            - The one hot works fire cause was recorded as ‘Negligent use of equipment or appliance (heat                                source)’ and the source of ignition was recorded as ‘Industrial equipment - Welding/Cutting                                   equipment’ on the Incident Recording System

• The number of injuries and fatalities caused by hot work incidents in the construction industry.
